Former Athlete Profile (Retired) - Hayley Atkins PDF Print E-mail

Hayley was formerly a talented beach sprinter from Queensland and moved to Victoria about two years ago and trained under Peter Van Miltenberg.  She did not really respond to the training and was dispondent with her athletic output.  After confiding with a close friend from Queensland (former runner up in the Stawell GIft Brett Robinson) he recommended that she should contact Nick for a new fresh approach to her training and competition.   She contacted Nick and has thoroughly enjoyed the transition into the training squad.

Hayley retired from training and competition in 2014.

She is a member of the Ringwood Athletic Club.

Former Athlete Profile - (Retired) Sheena Steinert PDF Print E-mail
Written by Nick Fiedler
Friday, 07 September 2012
Sheena is an outstanding athlete who joined the squad in May 201,2 however brought with her a pre existing condition of hamstring tendonosis.  After only a few sessions it was quickly identified that a diagnosis was required to definatively determine the cause for her dull hamstring pain that she had carried through the latter part of the previous season.  Diagnosis confirmed initial thoughts and immediate rest for extensive time is required to overcome this overuse injury.   Cross training was provided whilst allocating none or little running to commence the lengthy rehab process.  Despite initaially starting this process Sheena decided that she had had a career littered with injury and no longer wanted to go through extensive rehab to most likely come to similar point when running well.  She has now found a more balanced life and is very content and happy with her decision to retire from athletics catching up on all the things in life she had previously overlooked. She remains a close friend of many in the squad.
