Marika is a Melbourne Storm NRL player better known as the Fijian Flyer. He has a highlight reel of outstanding plays and runs in the NRL for his relatively young age and has been touted as the fastest player in the NRL. Before turning his hand to focus primarily on Rugby League he ran some track in Fiji as a schoolboy where he clocked a very respectable 10.75. Whilst not at that speed now due to his increased mass required to player rugby league he still generates some good speed. After doing speed work with the Melbourne Storm speed coach Nick Fiedler for a few seasons he expressed a desire to run in a few races to supplement his off season preparation. He made his first pro debut at Maryborough 2016 where he won his heat and later qualified for the final of the 70m and ran from the red in the final to still post a respectable result. He won his heat of the 120m Gift and but he was eliminated in the semis. He enjoyed his first exposure to pro running and expressed a desire to again do it in the future. Pro Debut - 2016 Maryborough 70m. He is eligible for Novice Events. |
